AHHA Boat House 2025
After visiting the floating village on our August 2025 mission, we witnessed the harsh conditions in which the children had to traverse to attend “school” at the back of an old mechanic garage amongst the smell and noise. Children were packed into a cramped space with no windows and no light.
The children were hopeful and eager to learn, despite the lack of a proper structure. The idea of a Boat House was created to specifically provide a separate learning environment for the children. AHHA fundraised and donated $21,500AUD for this boat house school project. This was completed in November 2025 including the floating boat structure, solar lights and toilets, tables and chairs, books, and white board. This is able to house up to 100 children, allowing more students to be able to attend school than previous.
Additionally, next to the school, there were community boats dedicated to events such as weddings and funerals. From the remaining funds of our project, upon request of the floating village community, we helped to install 35 new barrels underneath these boats, providing the stable support they had long been missing.
AHHA thanks its generous donors whose compassion made this project possible. The transformation is truly moving. The space in which the children now study is filled with light, hope and possibilities. Thank you for changing the lives and futures of these children.
